On March 8th, local time, CCTV reporters learned from multiple sources that the U.S. government expressed dissatisfaction with Israel’s recent attack on Iran’s fuel storage facilities. This marks the first clear disagreement between the U.S. and Israel since the outbreak of the Iran war.

It is understood that on the 8th, the Israeli Air Force launched airstrikes on about 30 Iranian fuel storage facilities, causing fires at multiple oil depots in Tehran and shrouding the city in thick smoke. Israel claims these facilities are used by the Iranian government to supply fuel to various agencies, including the military.

Sources familiar with the matter said Israel notified the U.S. before the operation, but the U.S. was surprised by the scale of the attack. A senior U.S. official stated that the U.S. considers this “not a good idea,” fearing that attacking civilian infrastructure could be strategically counterproductive, potentially uniting Iranian society in support of the government and driving up global oil prices.

Iran warned that if attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure continue, Tehran may retaliate against regional energy facilities.
