UK AI Data Center Developer Nscale Completes a Major Funding Round and Brings in Notable Tech Industry Leaders as Directors, Further Strengthening Its Position in Europe’s AI Infrastructure Sector

According to a statement released by the company on Monday, Nscale has completed a $2 billion Series C funding round, with a post-money valuation of $14.6 billion. The round was led by Norwegian energy group Aker ASA and investment firm 8090 Industries, with participation from Nvidia, Lenovo, and Nokia.

Meanwhile, the company has significantly expanded its board, appointing three prominent tech industry figures: former Meta COO Sheryl Sandberg, former Meta Policy Head Nick Clegg, and Susan Decker, former Yahoo executive and current Berkshire Hathaway director.

Accelerating Funding, Nscale Targets Europe’s Computing Market

In early 2024, Nscale spun off from its cryptocurrency mining business to become an independent entity, quickly rising as a new force in AI infrastructure. As part of the “neo-cloud” tier, the company focuses on providing compute leasing services for AI developers and has clearly prioritized the European market.

To date, Nscale has launched several large data center projects in the UK, Norway, and Portugal. Although these facilities are not yet fully operational commercially, its regional footprint is beginning to take shape.

In terms of funding, the company has accelerated its pace. By 2025, Nscale has raised approximately $1.5 billion in equity financing, and earlier this year secured debt arrangements of similar scale, demonstrating strong market confidence in its growth trajectory. According to Bloomberg, the company has also been exploring a new funding round of up to $2 billion, further confirming its expansion ambitions.
