Want to actually stay ahead in crypto? Hop on calls with teams building interesting stuff. That's it. Talk through their USP, their model, who's backing them—get it all early when they're still finding their footing. It makes all the difference.

I had the chance to do exactly this back in April with some solid teams. You'd be surprised how much you learn when you're not just reading whitepapers or scrolling Twitter—direct conversations with founders give you the real picture of what's coming.

Early calls can indeed be good for catching opportunities, but to be honest, most teams haven't even fully thought through their pitches yet. Talking directly with founders is definitely more reliable than just reading whitepapers; at least you can tell whether they truly have an idea or are just trying to harvest investors. Were there any standout projects during the April discussions? Don't keep them to yourself. Direct conversations are the fastest way to target good projects; information gaps are always there.

Early calls with these founders are indeed interesting, much more reliable than blindly flipping through whitepapers. Listening to their discussions about models and investors, the information gap at that time was really valuable. Did you find any good projects during that April wave of calls? It feels like at this point in time, you should be able to find quite a few things. Talking directly makes a big difference; you can tell whether they are genuinely working on something or just storytelling.

Early conversations can indeed reveal the true level of a project, much more reliable than just reading the white paper. The problem is that most people simply can't get in touch with the founders haha

Chatting is really much more useful than scrolling through Twitter; I'm already tired of the white paper routine.

Talking directly with the founders is the way to go. Stop scrolling Twitter all day; surface articles can't fool people.

Early exposure is really the key, but you also need to find the right people. Not every team can find the right way through conversations.
