Analysis: Bitcoin's recent pullback has been weaker than in previous cycles, with optimists betting on a surge to $150,000 by the end of the year

On January 3rd, Fu Rao, Executive Director of the Hong Kong International New Economy Research Institute, wrote in the Hong Kong media publication Ta Kung Pao titled "Diminishing Speculative Attributes, Bitcoin Volatility Stabilizes," noting that: Bitcoin's sharp rise in 2025 differs from previous years, primarily due to the widespread adoption of ETFs. The recent price correction is not as significant as in the past four or five years.
This change may be related to traditional capital operation logic being influenced by macroeconomic factors.
Regarding Bitcoin's 2026 market outlook, there are two main opinions: one believes Bitcoin may experience a significant correction, even returning to lower price ranges, while the other is optimistic about Bitcoin reaching $150,000 by the end of the year and aiming for $250,000 in 2027. Currently, Bitcoin's entry into the traditional financial sphere is essentially complete, but it still requires 5 to 10 years to achieve the same societal recognition as gold.
