I entered the market in 2015, before Bitcoin broke $10,000. Over the years, I've watched it soar from a few thousand to hundreds of thousands, and I've also seen altcoins go to zero overnight. The worst times, I thought about quitting the industry, but then I figured out a principle: making money in the market is not about luck, but about a proven method that can withstand repeated verification. Sharing it might not be as exciting, but it can really help you avoid 80% of the pitfalls.
**How to choose coins — don't be too blind**
I never touch small coins that no one pays attention to, for a simple reason: trash projects are best at hiding in obscure places. My rule for selecting coins is two words: follow the trend. Not blindly following, but only choosing from coins that have significant funding attention.
I update a list every Monday, filtering out the top 50 coins with the highest gains over the past 11 trading days. Being on this list indicates that large funds are definitely involved, which is much safer than trying to analyze coin charts yourself.
But just making the list isn't enough; I also eliminate those that are clearly about to turn down. Coins that have fallen for three consecutive days are directly excluded. These are usually pumped up to be dumped, and the subsequent correction could exceed 30%, trapping most investors.
The most important thing is to look at the monthly chart. I only keep coins where the monthly MACD is at the bottom and has a golden cross. Monthly signals are much more stable than daily ones because they reflect the long-term thinking of institutional players.
I've made mistakes before. In 2023, I chased an AI concept coin that surged wildly on the daily chart, but when I looked at the monthly chart, the MACD had already formed a death cross. It only rose for three days before halving, and I got trapped badly. Since then, I follow one rule: the trend is the boss; the daily chart can only do small chores.
**There is only one buy point — pullback + volume increase**
I used to struggle with whether to buy early or late, but then I realized the ultimate buy signal is actually one: a daily pullback to the 60-day moving average, accompanied by increased volume.
