The U.S. Department of Justice reported that 22-year-old California man Evan Tangeman has pleaded guilty to laundering over $3.5 million for a crypto crime syndicate. Between 2023 and 2025, the group stole approximately 4,100 BTC (worth about $263 million at the time of the crime) through social engineering and database breaches. The funds were used for expenses such as luxury cars, watches, nightclub spending, renting properties, and private security. Tangeman was responsible for converting the stolen crypto assets into cash and assisting with property rentals. He is the ninth person to plead guilty in the case, with sentencing scheduled for April 2026. (The Block)
