Is it really impossible to make money with intraday trading?
A: Incorrect, intraday trading can be profitable.
First. Distinguish between intraday trading and high-frequency intraday trading.
The former is called intraday trading, but the holding period is not necessarily limited to 24 hours; the specific holding time adapts to the duration of the trend. The latter has very short holding periods, ranging from a few seconds to dozens of minutes. High-frequency trading aims to capture as many fluctuations as possible within a day, so it operates on extremely short timeframes such as 2 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds, etc. At the same time, it can set stop-losses very steadily to control intraday drawdowns.
Second. Based on the first point, if you’re not a professional trader, there’s no need to get into high-frequency intraday trading.
Here, “professional trader” doesn’t mean someone with no foundation who just quits their job to try to make money in crypto by staring at screens. That’s a speculator who’s unlikely to win. A true professional trader should have: years of long-term trading training, extremely fast reaction, judgment, calculation, and decision-making abilities for candlestick charts, the ability to capture potential volatility, and strong mindset and physical condition.
Third. Intraday trading can be profitable, but the threshold for consistent profits is still very high.
Here’s the direct conclusion: Assuming you control risk and set appropriate stop-losses, the proportion of people making money is: large timeframe investing/trading: <10%, intraday trading: <1%, high-frequency intraday trading: <0.1%.
So:
Which path you choose, what method you use, and how much time and effort you’re willing to spend learning and practicing all depend on you. Any method that gets results is good; if you don’t get results with a particular method, focus on improving yourself—don’t blame the market.
The truth is always hard to hear; pleasant words draw a crowd. The more you hear and agree with pleasant words, the harder it is to recognize your own shortcomings. Only by making different and correct choices each time you face the same crossroads can you become a different person.
