Floyd Mayweather's $37 Million NFT Heist - The Boxing Champ's Crypto Con Game
Money grabbing at its finest - that's what I witnessed when Floyd "Money" Mayweather pulled off his NFT schemes. Let me tell you how this boxing legend swindled millions right under everyone's noses.
While most crypto scammers nick a few grand and vanish, Mayweather went for the knockout - over $35 million stolen! Hard to believe? I couldn't either until I dug into this mess.
The scam tour began August 2021 with "Floyds World" - a typical 10k collection. He plastered promotions across his socials, even recording that now-infamous video: "Are you committed?" Floyd: "400%, I'm all the way in!"
Hours later? Tweets deleted. Project abandoned. Walking away with 4.9 million dollars like it was pocket change. But Floyd was just warming up.
April 2022 brought "Mayverse" - 10k 3D avatars of himself. This flop only minted 147 NFTs, netting "only" $100k. Poor Floyd, missing out on his $5M payday!
But here's what most people miss - this wasn't his crypto debut! Back in 2017, he and DJ Khaled endorsed Centra Tech, which later stole $32 million from investors. Company founders were arrested in 2022, but Mayweather walked free.
Coincidence? I doubt it. This man has a pattern of attaching his name to crypto projects that mysteriously collapse after he's collected his cash.
The million-dollar question: Is Floyd just repeatedly unlucky with his endorsements? Or is he deliberately promoting scams, knowing full well they'll rug pull?
Many celebrities claim ignorance - "it was the devs, not me!" - but after THREE separate incidents? Come on. The undefeated boxing champion might be undefeated in crypto scams too.
What's your take? Innocent celebrity taken advantage of, or calculated con artist using his fame to fleece fans?
