The volume of ETH Spot ETF has skyrocketed to account for 15%, sparking discussions on Decentralization.

Abstract generation in progress

As of September 23, 2025, the trading volume of Ethereum spot ETFs has accounted for 15% of the total trading volume in the ETH spot market, a significant increase from the 3% at the beginning of its listing in November 2024. This change reflects an increasing preference among institutions and retail investors to gain exposure to Ethereum through regulated products rather than holding tokens directly.

The ETF structure provides a channel for ETH investment through traditional brokerage accounts, effectively expanding the potential investor base and propelling ETH to rise over 30% this year. However, the concentration of a large amount of ETH with custodians rather than being dispersed in individual wallets has also sparked discussions about the level of decentralization of the network. As ETH staking applications may be approved in the future, the utilization rate of ETF funds may further increase.
