Dare to trade. Dare to win.
Recently I've been busy reviewing my poker plays and haven't been paying much attention to the game. For example, in this hand, I had AJo on the BTN, and I chose to 3-bet to 4x against the CO's open raise. UTG + 1 called, and the others folded.
First, UTG + 1 here limp + call 3bet is a loose and weak play, the range is very capped.
After the J66 rainbow flop, my opponent checks. I bet 1/3 and he calls. There's a high probability he doesn't have a 6 here.
The turn card ♥️3 gives me a potential backdoor flush. My opponent continues to check, and I feel like they are seeking a showdown, so I bet 1/3. However, my opponent raises back, and I can only call.
River card ♦️5, no significant card, Check Check, opponent shows 44, I successfully take the pot.
Here my question is about the turn bet, it shouldn't be 1/3, it should be heavier, like 2/3 to extract more value. Betting too lightly shows weakness, and the opponent might think I have nothing.
The problem for the opponent is that after the turn, both sides have pot commitment, and there is no room to continue bluffing on the river.
