The procedural vote in the U.S. House of Representatives to advance three major cryptocurrency bills during "Crypto Week" has stalled just hours after the first round of voting was passed. Republican lawmakers are hopeful to pass all three bills this week, including the GENIUS bill aimed at establishing a legal framework for stablecoins.

However, conservative lawmakers like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Chip Roy strongly oppose bypassing the regulation that prohibits issuing CBDCs directly to the public. A source describes the current situation as a "mess." Although President Donald Trump previously stated that he had reached an agreement with lawmakers on Tuesday night, that agreement now seems to be no longer valid.

In addition to GENIUS, other drafts such as the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act ( and the proposal to block the Fed from issuing CBDC are also awaiting passage in the Senate. Some Republican members want to include anti-CBDC language into the entire framework of the digital currency law.
