At a White House press conference on Friday, June 28, U.S. President Trump discussed the dangers of the presidential position and revealed for the first time the aftermath of last year's shooting. When asked by reporters about the security threats he faces, Trump mentioned his experience of being grazed by a bullet in the ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, 2024, stating, "It still sometimes jumps and hurts suddenly, but that's nothing; it’s just a high-risk profession." Trump also compared the risks of different professions, saying, "The death rate for race car drivers is 0.1%, and the death rate for bullfighters is also 0.1%. That number doesn’t seem high, but it exists. Meanwhile, the death rate for presidents is as high as 5%. If someone had told me that back then, I might not have run for office. It’s a dangerous profession." According to media reports, among the 45 presidents in U.S. history, 4 have been assassinated, and several other presidents and candidates have been shot.
