Cyberport Phase 5 Launch: Building a New Landmark for Innovation and Technology in Hong Kong, Driving the Development of Digital Economy and Smart City.
The Cyberport Phase 5 building will become a key landmark for innovation and technology in Hong Kong, equipped with next-generation digital infrastructure and advanced smart office facilities, supporting the research and development of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, data science, Blockchain, and cybersecurity. It will enhance the support for the development of smart city, fintech, low-altitude economy, cultural and creative tourism, as well as other advantageous innovation and technology industries and strategic emerging industries, providing greater space for innovation and showcasing achievements for innovation and technology enterprises, attracting more high-quality innovation and technology enterprises from both domestic and overseas to settle, and gathering global innovation and technology talents.
Simon Chan, Chairman of Cyberport, said, "The Cyberport Expansion Project is an important milestone in the development of Hong Kong's I&T infrastructure, providing a broader and more dynamic development space for I&T enterprises, helping Hong Kong develop new quality productivity and ignite the development of strategic emerging industries and future industries. Phase 5 will be equipped with a number of advanced technology facilities to provide strong support for the R&D and application of innovative technologies, promote the intelligent upgrading and transformation of different industries, drive the high-quality development of Hong Kong's digital economy and smart city, and attract more technology enterprises and I&T talents from home and abroad, enhancing Hong Kong's status as an international I&T hub. At the same time, the expansion plan will enhance the waterfront park and enhance the greenery, smart and pet-friendly elements, so that the public can share the quality of life brought by innovation and technology, and create a harmonious, inclusive, smart and sustainable innovative community."
The Cyberport expansion plan includes the construction of the Cyberport Phase 5 building and the optimization of the waterfront park. Cyberport Phase 5 is a 10-story office building located on the northwest side of the waterfront park, covering an area of 1.6 hectares, offering full sea views and approximately 66,000 square meters of total floor area, of which offices and shared workspaces account for 36,000 square meters, approximately 30% of the current total floor area. The new building features a curved and stepped design, incorporating atriums, skylights, and outdoor terraces, providing flexible workspaces and collaboration areas to encourage user interaction and connectivity, with pedestrian bridges linking adjacent parks. The building is equipped with advanced technological infrastructure, including a Tier-III + dedicated sustainable data center, located near the artificial intelligence supercomputing center and the Hong Kong Internet Exchange core location (HKIX), providing high power density, high efficiency, and reliable data storage and computing support; additionally, it is equipped with dedicated fiber optics, multi-cloud platforms, 10G broadband services, etc., providing ultra-high-speed, low-latency data connection transmission; the infrastructure is ready to support connections to high-speed submarine cable networks, accelerating global network connectivity, international communication integration, and data transmission. The building also features a multifunctional conference hall that can accommodate up to 800 people, hosting various large-scale industry events to promote communication in the innovation and technology sector. The building also includes over 5,000 square meters of recreational space, sunset viewing platforms, and other public facilities for citizens to enjoy, and a series of supporting facilities will enhance users' retail and dining experiences.
Cyberport is committed to promoting sustainable development through innovative technology. The new building integrates various green and smart designs, including energy-saving facilities such as IoT technology and renewable energy applications, becoming a model for low-carbon buildings. During the construction period, we utilized Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology, combined with 4D building information modeling to simulate construction and management, and effectively managed project operations and ensured safety through an IoT electronic monitoring system. At the same time, we adopted the 'assembly synthesis' construction method, utilizing shipping to transport building materials, and reduced the impact of construction on the surrounding environment through real-time monitoring and preventive measures. The green building and design goals of the new building achieved a new building 1.2 Platinum rating from the Green Building Council and a new data center 1.0 Platinum rating, and it has also obtained multiple industry certifications such as WiredScore Platinum and SmartScore Platinum ratings. In terms of smart buildings and construction, the relevant projects have also received several industry awards, including those from the Construction Industry Council, the Hong Kong Green Building Council, and the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, with results widely recognized in the industry.
The Cyberport expansion plan also includes optimizing the waterfront park to create a green and vibrant public space for citizens. The park will add a waterfront promenade and smart facilities, optimize landscaping, parks, and landing facilities, and strive to create a pet-friendly environment, making the waterfront park a public space that integrates leisure, sports, and technology experiences, allowing the general public to enjoy a comfortable and pleasant outdoor environment, as well as a more diverse and high-quality community life.
