Just saw the list of the 20 richest people in the world according to Bloomberg, and it's quite eye-opening. Elon Musk is still at the top with $638 billion, far ahead of second place Larry Page ($265 billion). Then there are Sergey Brin, Jeff Bezos, and Larry Ellison, all in the range of $238–$246 billion.
What’s interesting is that the majority of these 20 wealthiest people are from the United States, except for a few names like Bernard Arnault from France, Amancio Ortega from Spain, and some from India like Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani. Bill Gates has dropped to 16th place with $117 billion, which is weird to think about how wealth distribution has changed.
Mark Zuckerberg is in 6th place with $229 billion, then Jensen Huang has boomed to 9th place with $153 billion (probably because of AI hype). Warren Buffett remains solid in 10th place with $152 billion, even though it’s “only” that much. Looking at these 20 richest people in the world, most of them are self-made from tech or retail, not purely inherited wealth.
This data is from December 2025, so the numbers might have changed now, but overall rankings are probably similar. Interesting to see how the wealth gap keeps widening, huh?
