Barclays: This week's U.S. consumer survey data is highly anticipated, as signals of an economic slowdown may be confirmed.
According to Jin10 data on March 24, analysts from Barclays Bank stated that this week's released consumer survey data in the United States might be given more importance than usual. In the past, economists have sometimes been skeptical about consumer surveys, especially since recent consumer views on the economy seem to reflect their political beliefs more than personal experiences. However, recent survey results from the University of Michigan and the World Large Enterprises Federation show that consumer confidence has significantly declined and inflation expectations have risen, which aligns with other rumors suggesting a slowdown in consumer spending. The Barclays team wrote that if the new data still shows the same situation, it will be harder to ignore these survey results. The U.S. Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index for March will be released on Tuesday. The final value of the University of Michigan Consumer Confidence Index for March will be released on Friday.
