The first data center of the OpenAI Stargate project will accommodate up to 400,000 NVIDIA chips.

Golden Ten Data reported on March 19 that the first data center complex of OpenAI's $100 billion Stargate (StarGate.io) infrastructure joint venture will accommodate up to 400,000 NVIDIA AI chips. The construction of the project, which is located in the small town of Abilene, Texas, and will be completed by mid-2026 with a power capacity of 1.2 gigawatts, according to developer Crusoe, is scheduled to announce the next phase of development on Tuesday. While the facility is large enough to house hundreds of thousands of advanced AI chips, it's unclear how many are already planned to be deployed.
