He stated that this is a huge victory for the entire sector, believing that classifying non-fungible tokens as securities is a misunderstanding of the law and will hinder innovation. Previously, in August 2024, the SEC issued a Wells notice to OpenSea, accusing it of operating as an unregistered securities trading platform. Despite being competitors, Magic Eden’s Chief Business Officer, Chris Akhavan, believes this is a major victory for the non-fungible token industry, with both companies deeply believing in the potential of non-fungible tokens.
