Nanchong police in Sichuan cracked down on a virtual currency money laundering "runners" group, with 5 people detained.
Deep Tide TechFlow News, November 10th, according to Nanchong Political and Legal News, the Shunqing District Branch of the Nanchong Public Security Bureau successfully dismantled a “money laundering” criminal group using virtual currencies, and arrested 5 suspects including Wang.
It is reported that Wang and others discovered “high-paying job offers” online and formed a professional “car fleet” to engage in illegal fund transfer activities. The group used overseas encrypted messaging apps to connect with black industry groups involved in scams and gambling, developing subordinate members who specifically recruited social idle personnel to handle bank cards, thereby constructing a complete criminal chain.
According to investigators, the criminal group recruited “card farmers” with the lure of “high commissions,” providing card numbers to overseas upstream sources. After funds were transferred in, they split the money into designated accounts following instructions. Once the “money running” was completed, the upstream source settled the “rewards” using virtual currencies.
Currently, 5 suspects have been criminally detained according to law, and the case is under further investigation. Police remind the public that renting, lending, or selling bank cards and payment accounts is suspected of being illegal and criminal activity.
