Japanese and American companies establish gallium production projects in Australia.

Jin10 data reported on August 4th that the Japanese government will cooperate with Japanese and American companies to establish gallium production facilities in Australia and create its own gallium production system. Gallium is an essential mineral for manufacturing semiconductors. The Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC), which is under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, will establish a joint venture in Australia with major trading company Sojitz Corp. and Alcoa Corp. of the United States, with production expected to begin in 2026. Alcoa already has an aluminum smelter in Australia.
