On July 17, Jin10 reported that the Swedish Finance Minister stated that the EU needs to accelerate its actions and take a firm stance in negotiations with the United States regarding tariffs. Currently, this protracted trade negotiation has sparked high uncertainty, and the EU is seeking to end this situation. The United States has set August 1 as the deadline, stating that if an agreement is not reached by then, a 30% tariff will be imposed on EU goods. This has prompted EU leaders to rush to secure a more favorable agreement before that date. EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič expressed dissatisfaction with this latest move from the U.S. government, as Brussels originally believed that both sides were very close to reaching an agreement before the U.S. put pressure on them.
