Diplomats say that following Poland's lead in pushing to protect EU farmers, the EU has decided to abruptly terminate the special trade arrangement that allowed most Ukrainian goods to enter the EU duty-free. The EU has a free trade agreement with Ukraine, but after the conflict broke out in 2022, the EU further removed the remaining tariffs. These trade arrangements will expire on June 6, and the EU plans to replace them with "transitional measures" as both sides update their overall trade agreement.
