Argentina wants to learn from the experience of El Salvador in implementing Bitcoin

The government of Argentina is working with El Salvador to learn from the country's experience in implementing Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency activities.

According to the official announcement of the Argentine National Securities Commission (CNV), CNV has held a meeting with the National Digital Asset Commission of El Salvador (CNAD) to discuss the application and regulation of cryptocurrencies in these two countries.

At the meeting on May 23, CNV Chairman Roberto Silva, CNV Vice Chairman Patricia Boedo, and CNAD Chairman Juan Carlos Reyes discussed El Salvador's experience as the first country in the world to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender in September 2021.

Officials have exchanged approaches and perspectives on the use of cryptocurrency in the global economy, with particular focus on the case of Bitcoin in El Salvador.

President Silva of CNV emphasized that El Salvador has emerged not only as a global leader in the adoption of Bitcoin but also as a prominent player in the vast cryptocurrency industry. He highlighted the importance of insights into the industry that CNAD, the supervisory and regulatory body for the digital asset market in El Salvador, has discovered. Silva stated:

"We want to strengthen our relationship with the Republic of El Salvador, and therefore, we will explore the possibility of signing cooperation agreements with them." >

Vice President CNV Boedo, who visited El Salvador to participate in market development meetings in March, emphasized the important role in El Salvador's crypto industry development expertise.

> "Argentina is a pioneer in technology and the National Securities Commission understands and wants to work with this industry efficiently and create appropriate regulations," official El Salvador Reyes said. ">" >

This news comes as Argentina moves towards regulating the local cryptocurrency market and requiring registration for cryptocurrency companies in April. The country has been actively advancing into the cryptocurrency market since Bitcoin-friendly politician Javier Milei became President of Argentina at the end of 2023.

By the end of 2023, Argentine Foreign Minister Diana Mondino stated that the government is preparing a decree to legalize the use of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies within the country for payments under certain conditions.
