The carbon nanotube and double-sided solar panel alternative provides 97 percent efficiency in solar energy technology.
Costs are reduced by 70 percent with the new alternative
These nanotubes are only 2.2 nanometers in diameter, and even when 45,000 of them are put together, they form a structure thinner than a piece of paper. Despite this, these panels can generate 36 milliwatts of electricity per square meter. This equates to about 360 watts per square meter. Traditional solar panels produce about 200 watts per square meter.
