2026.5.5 U.S. Stock Market Overview


Tensions in Iran have not further escalated, with the storage sector leading the gains, and Bitcoin breaking through $81,000.
1. VIXY closed down 0.07%, at 27.7.
2. The three major U.S. indices closed higher, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq reaching new highs. The S&P 500 index rose 58.47 points, up 0.81%, to 259.22 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 356.35 points, up 0.73%, to 49,298.25 points. The Nasdaq gained 258.324 points, up 1.03%, closing at 25,326.126 points.
3. Apple rose 2.66%, Google A increased 1.36%, Amazon gained 0.54%, Microsoft fell 0.55%, Tesla declined 0.82%, Meta dropped 0.89%, Nvidia decreased 1%.
4. The Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index rose 0.12%, to 6,889.48 points. Among popular Chinese concept stocks, GDS Holdings increased 4.5%, Alibaba fell 0.8%, XPeng and NetEase declined 0.9%, Pinduoduo dropped 1%, NIO decreased 2.3%.
5. Storage concept stocks continued their strong performance, with Intel up over 12%, SanDisk and Micron Technology up over 11%, both hitting new all-time highs.
6. Bitcoin has risen for six consecutive days, setting the longest winning streak since October 2025, breaking the $81,000 mark for the first time since the end of January, and approaching the 200-day moving average.
