California Governor Newsom acknowledges: considering running for the 2028 presidential election

Newsom said that if a person has a “compelling reason,” then no matter how “difficult the process,” they can persevere. He said, “I think the biggest challenge anyone faces when running for office is that people can see through you at a glance. If you don’t have that ‘why,’ then your candidacy is based on the wrong reasons.”
